Permanent links between everything on your Mac.
A free macOS menu-bar app that creates stable, application-independent links to the things you actually work with — files, emails, photos, PDFs, websites — without pulling them into your notes app.
The problem
Why can’t you just link to a photo in Apple Photos? Because those links expire after 30 days. The usual workaround is to import the photo into your vault — which defeats the point of having a vault in the first place.
The same problem shows up everywhere: emails, PDFs, files buried three folders deep, a website you found six weeks ago. Either you copy the content in, or you lose track of it.
What PolyRelate does
PolyRelate builds a permanent link to the object itself — wherever it actually lives — and lets you drop that live link straight into Obsidian, or anywhere else. The object stays where it is. Only the reference travels.
- Capture — grab whatever you’re looking at (Finder, Mail, Photos, a PDF, a browser tab) and get a stable link to it in one step.
- Relate — every capture can carry the context of why you saved it, and connects back to every note that references it.
- Browse — a built-in bookmark browser shows everything you’ve captured, across every app, in one place — so you can find it again even if you’ve lost track of which note it’s linked from.
Currently free, currently early
PolyRelate is free and in early testing. Expect some rough edges — and if you hit one, feedback is genuinely welcome → (please don’t include sensitive personal content in issues — they’re publicly visible), or visit the support page → for help.
